a. Đuôi "-ed" phát âm là /id/

Với động từ kết thúc là /t/ hoặc /d/:

b. Đuôi "-ed" phát âm là /t/

Quy tắc phát âm đuôi ed với động từ có phát âm kết thúc là những phụ âm vô thanh /s/, /ʃ/, /tʃ/, /k/, /f/, /p/.

Ví dụ

Washed /wɔːʃt/, looked: /lu:kt/, missed: /mist/

c. Đuôi "-ed" phát âm là /d/

Quy tắc phát âm đuôi ed với những động từ có phát âm kết thúc là những phụ âm hữu thanh còn lại và nguyên âm.
